How to convert AVCHD clips to 720p

Would you like to create YouTube movies from your full-HD AVCHD clips but find that your computer can’t handle full-spec 1920×1080 editing without falling over? Here’s one of Colin’s suggested workarounds using software from Shedworx.

Although an increasing number of serious video-makers have made the move up to PCs and Macs that benefit from Core-i5 and i7 processors and the like, there’s still a lot of people using dual-core processor machines that find it a struggle to handle real-time editing of HD video clips at full 1920×1080 resolution.

SimplyDV’s Colin Barrett has put together a series of short “how-to” tutorials in which he shares simple video editing and compression tips and techniques, and in this first video he looks at how to use the very handy third-party HD QuickLook and VoltaicHD software utilities from Australian company Shedworx.

Both these utilities are available as web downloads from Shedworx’s website, and you can even try before you buy.
