Bill, I must apologise. I've had some technical issues with it - hence the reason why links haven't been visible here or anywhere else - but over the next couple of days all should be much clearer! Watch this space...

Peter

Good to see an "old name" appearing here again, too! Yes, the idea of the MAGIX tutorials came about in response to requests I'd had from certain quarters to support training in this software. It's big in Germany, Holland, Belgium and quite popular in the USA too but hasn't really taken hold in the UK like the company would like. Pity, because it's a good alternative to the now-defunct Pinnacle Studio, Corel Videostudio and even Adobe Premiere Elements. The latter, of course, has been dogged with problems and I'm not sure where Adobe is going with it at all. I think it will turn up as an iPad app soon but I'm just guessing. I have some inside info but unfortunately not that much.... :-)

Anyway, this week (w/c 5th Sept) I'll be putting all the 24 tutorials online and available for paid-for download, but at a very reasonable price I believe. One of the modules does cover twin camera editing along with other stuff - all of which is aimed very much at beginners who really don't know where to start. Although there are tons of screencast tutorials out there, so few actually start from the very basics.

Hi Colin,
Nice to see you taking a look at this much under rated NLE, which I chose over all the other usual candidates some years ago. Why not also cover the twin camera editing facility included? Another "plus" over all those others at this price point! ;)

Cant decide whether to consider this or the other one, the Nex-7. I like the idea of the proper viewfinder and full hd video. Brilliant, does anybody kno what media it records to.. flash memory or SD cards or memory stick?

I love the look of this and I want one, it saves having to carry a DSLR cam and a camcorder at the same time.

I consider the current "pro" market to be those individuals and organisations that have made a significant (and, in many cases, massive) investment in a technical resources infrastructure and for whom a financial return is necessary. It could be a freelance cameraman, wedding videographer, a post-production facility or broadcast programming provider. Anything really. I can accept that Apple doesn't necessarily want to play a continued role in this activity but I just wish they'd had the courage to state it openly. It's a major PR gaffe for Apple which, over time, will (of course) have no negative effect on them at all - but in the short/medium term it will be Avid and Adobe who will be the winners in that particular space. BBC Studios and Post-Production in White City, London, are mightily glad they didn't move everything over to FCP when the opportunity arose, the primary post-production tool being Avid Media Composer.

Good luck to Apple with FCP X, however; it's a good product. It's just not good enough for existing workflows in broadcast TV and movie-making workflows.

Just had a thought (ouch) but the Merry Prankster's bus may be leaving broadcast TV behind as well. And you still seem to be conflating "pro market" with broadcast TV :-)

Martin, as far as broadcast workflows are concerned I'm just reflecting the way it is. I'm just observing Apple's decision to back out of the pro market. As for FCP X, it's a good piece of software. I like it. But it's no good for today's complex broadcast TV workflows that's all. That's not my opinion - it's fact.
