Special Clearance Deal on Tutorial DVDs
Aug 4th
Posted by Colin in Announcements
Given that Adobe Premiere Elements has been in Version 8 for some time now, we’ve decided to try and clear stocks of the 5-DVD set of tutorials entitled “Getting Started with Premiere Elements 7″.
Yes, that’s right. We need to clear some space and make room for a new set of software tutorials, so all stock must be cleared! Of course, there’s always the concern that a set of tutorials on Premiere Elements 7 (without a doubt one of the best beginners’ video editing packages available today) may not be applicable to users of version 8. That’s not true. Although there are some differences between v7 and v8 they’re not so great as to make the DVDs inappropriate; lots of aspects of the application are the same.
As a taster of what’s contained in the DVDs, take a spin through the sample modules that are freely available on our YouTube channel right here:
(Please Note: This gallery uses Flash 10 and won’t display on iPhones, iPod Touches or iPads)
Of course, the DVDs focus greatly on stuff like file and clip management as well as the finer points of editing such as the use of keyframes, simple animation, generating and manipulating titles, and so on – all of which are relevant to the later version.
So, if you’re inspired by what you see and fancy a go at editing your own camcorder, phone or DVd movies then grab your own set of Getting started with Premiere Elements 7 DVDs for the value-packed price of £14.95 (GBP) plus Post & Packing right away using the ad link on the right. This will connect you to our sister site at simplydv.tv.
New forums!

Got a question to ask or advice to offer? Our new forum is online!
It’s interesting that in the months following the closure of our old forums on the old site back in September ’09, we saw a resurgence in interest from our visitors for some means by which questions about camcorders and related technologies can be asked and discussed. The existing commenting system is OK, to a point, but it’s not as user-friendly as a forum. So I’ve re-introduced a new forum as a component of this site and I hope that you’ll find it as useful as did the many thousands of users of our old forums did. Unlike the old-style SimplyDV website, this forum will be “inside” the site structure and accessible via the same top menu as everything else.
It’s still in a skeletal form at the moment, but the more members and posts there are the better it will be for everyone. Please get involved!
Thanks – Colin

You may have tried to access the website over the last couple of days and found that it is not available. This was due to a major error that resulted in the transfer of our domain registration from one agency to another. This wasn’t as smooth as it should have been!
The fact that you’re reading this suggests that things have now been properly restored. Those who email us may still experience problems but please hang in there – we’re working on it!
Thanks for your patience.

New Tutorials section added

As a prelude to our bringing a new selection of screencast tutorials your way on SimplyDV, we’ve introduced a new category to the website.
Most people these days want to record video in the simplest manner with either their mobile phone, video camera or camcorder; once this has been done what happens to the movie clips?
Mention the word editing to most people and they’ll run a mile – yet it’s not that difficult to tidy up clips in such a way that they’re quickly transformed from ordinary, run-of-the mill (and often awful!) video clips to being sequences that look and sound quite professional.
What would you prefer to show? Exactly…
Getting Started with Premiere Elements 7
This set of 5 tutorial DVDs is our way of getting this new section moving. What you have is 39 exclusive training modules on 5 DVD discs that will convert you from zero to hero in no time. The DVDs are presented by SimplyDV’s founder and editor Colin Barrett and have been specifically designed with the complete beginner in mind. Adobe’s superb Premiere Elements video editing and authoring software is arguably the best in its class, and we’re dead keen to help you get the best from it.
What’s the point of recording video clips that you’re ashamed to share with others? Get the DVD tutorials and learn how to do it right now!

We’re pleased to tell you that the SimplyDV website is now compatible with not only Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch but also other touch-screen Smartphones, too.
And the great thing is that you don’t have to click any special buttons or navigate to special sub-domains or anything like. Just enter the website name into the phone’s browser and hit “go”.
It’s that easy!
Nice, clean interface
You’ll see that we’re giving mobile users a specially-formatted version of the site that’s much simpler, focuses primarily on the news and review pages and will therefore be more bandwidth-efficient. The good thing is that it’s all automatic (and doesn’t involve me in any more work at this end, either).
You’ll also notice that, since Apple doesn’t yet support Adobe Flash on its iPhone operating system, you won’t see any elements that contain Flash. Don’t worry – when Apple changes its mind the Flash elements will automatically become visible. You will be able to play YouTube video clips, though (of which we have a number on the site).
We’d love to get your feedback on your user experiences, so get in touch via the Contact form in the top menu.
Don’t forget to add SimplyDV to your iPhone’s bookmarks, too!
Enjoy!
