Panasonic TM700 have several problems like a flaw in the audio. But overall I think, it's the best.

Guys, I think the Panasonic TM700 is the winner of 2010. But someone out there says it has a flaw in the audio. Seems that there is an annoying creaking in the audio in the background. But is not the fan, because it is silent. What else can it be?

Colin, when you make the review of the TM700, you please, you can also do this test? Then write your comment on this creaking sound?

I hope that you take account of my supplication, thanks.
Greetings to all from Virginio (Italy).

Hi, thanks for the feedback. I was thinking along those lines also. Presumably there will have to be a vertical and a horizontal shift in two sensors to achieve double resolution in both directions and s/w sorts out the different resolutions.
It will be interesting to see how still images compare to DSLRs when the technical reviews come out.

Hi Virginio - yes, pixel shift is the most likely explanation. It's certainly the most common means of achieving the higher quoted resolutions at this price point.

Maybe with the old system, 1/2 pixel shift which increases by 50% the resolution?

I'm always intrigued as to the method by which the major brands calculate their "actual" and "effective" pixel resolutions, so it's a question that needs to be posed to Panasonic, really. The information in the news item is drawn from preliminary data supplied with a press release. I'll be able to investigate further when I get a detailed spec sheet together with an actual review sample - although in this case it's likely to be a pre-production model.

Hi,
It seems like a lot of people I eagerly await the first reviews of this camcorder. However I am puzzled as to how 3 *3M CCDs can produce a 14mpixel still image or a 13Mpixel still when recording video. In my maths 3*3 = 9.

Can you explain how this works? I look forward to your answer.

Hi Virginio - some time soon I will release some new tutorials describing users of slower PCs can import and edit from AVCHD video sources. Thanks - Colin

Hi Virginio - sorry about that. It is a security measure I have to take from time to time. You can copy text now. - Colin
